This was the first of several FREE taster sessions for the 2010-11 programme. 'Upland hay meadows are one of the rarest habitats in the UK. In the North Pennines AONB we have 40% of the remaining species-rich meadows in the country. At this evening event Rebecca Barrett (Project Development Officer with the North Pennines AONB) explained why our meadows are important ecologically, culturally and historically and described ongoing work to help conserve and celebrate them. The event was held at Carrs Farm, Wolsingham and was hosted by the farmer, Joy Henderson who has developed a range of facilities to attract visitors to her farm in recent years.
