“Know Your North Pennines” is a training programme for people working in the tourism industry in the North Pennines.

Through day-long themed training sessions the programme gives participants knowledge and understanding of the special qualities of the North Pennines and its people.

This knowledge and the enthusiasm for the area that goes with greater knowledge is a genuine asset for all participating businesses, and for the North Pennines as a whole.Staff will be able to share their knowledge with visitors, creating an excellent impression and giving greater enjoyment to guests.

“When I heard about the “Know Your North Pennines” course it seemed exactly what I needed.   It has given me the opportunity to listen to some amazing people who have a wealth of local knowledge, not just the history but present life too.   I’ve met some fascinating people, both the subject leaders and other participants.   Whilst my new-found knowledge may not be complete and I still can’t always answer all my guests’ questions – I now know someone who can!”
